Bryan Easson, the newly appointed head coach for the Netherlands men’s team, has wasted no time in enlisting Tyrone Holmes, his long-serving assistant from Scotland Women, into his coaching staff.

Holmes, who will reach the age of 40 this April, has been employed by Scottish Rugby since 2019. His coaching career commenced in France with Stade Niçois following his retirement from playing in 2016.

This loose forward was part of Glasgow’s Pro 12-winning squad and also had stints with Western Province, the Stormers, Toulon, Northampton, Petrarca, and Newcastle.

His sole international appearance for Scotland occurred in 2014, when he came on as a substitute during a 55-6 loss to his native country, South Africa.

Easson publicly announced Holmes’ new appointment via social media, stating on X: “Pleased to reveal that my good friend, former colleague, and exceptional defence coach, Tyrone Holmes, will be joining me at Rugby Netherlands for the 2026 Rugby Europe Championship.”

Both Easson and Holmes departed from Scottish Rugby following the conclusion of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

The Dutch team will commence their REC season at home against Spain on February 7th.
