FFT’s view
The Plan
It appeared dreamlike for supporters to contemplate, but the strategy was to capitalize on a first significant title triumph in 56 years by initiating a valid pursuit for the Premier League title and securing advancement to the Champions League knockout phase. Subsequently, a unforeseen complication arose with Alexander Isak.
LAST SEASON
PREMIER LEAGUE 5th
FA CUP Fifth Round
LEAGUE CUP Winners
TOP SCORER (ALL COMPS) Alexander Isak (27)
Newcastle commenced the summer needing worthwhile additions on the right flank and in central defense, a dependable substitute/replacement attacker to Alexander Isak, a gifted young goalkeeper who could take over for Nick Pope, a right winger, and a center-back. Essentially, the Magpies need to recruit multiple players equipped to integrate directly into the starting lineup, an aspect they have not achieved in the preceding three transfer periods.
The Coach

Eddie Howe can certainly choose an area for his statue at the upcoming (unconfirmed, though highly anticipated) new stadium. Securing a title elevated him beyond Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson in the affections of supporters, representing exceptionally high praise. Support him, believe in him, and enjoy the rewards. Conversely, insufficient backing from the hierarchy and consistent failures to secure crucial acquisitions could hasten his departure when a suitable opportunity arises.
Key player

Newcastle fans are eager to witness Sandro Tonali perform his capabilities once more on the Champions League platform. Potentially the most vital component within the squad, the Adam Driver impersonator diminishes the stress on the defensive unit, empowering Bruno Guimaraes to excel higher up the field.
Lesson from last year
Despite the triumph on the pitch, considerable instability existed off it. Four prominent figures (Amanda Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, Dan Ashworth, and Paul Mitchell) have already arrived and departed since the 2021 acquisition, with current CEO Darren Eales anticipated to become the fifth due to health concerns.

Newcastle must enlist a proficient sporting director capable of collaborating harmoniously with the manager. Mitchell, who assumed the role from Ashworth during the summer, failed to achieve this and seemingly recognized the situation, resigning after a single year. Equally significant is Eales’ replacement: Newcastle’s commercial revenues continue to trail those of comparable clubs within the Deloitte Football Money League.
The Mood
Rising dissatisfaction. With the title secured, Newcastle aspired to strive for further accolades, emerging as a persistent threat to Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea. However, failed transfer bids involving two of those clubs (or three if Isak transfers to Merseyside) have significantly dampened spirits.
One to watch

Throughout his debut season, William Osula exhibited encouraging glimpses during cup contests, furthermore netting a spectacular looping header in April’s league encounter versus Ipswich. Positively, he dedicated the summer to accumulating goals representing Denmark in the Under-21 European Championship.
Most likely to…
Lose the coin toss.
Considering that the St James’ Park pitch inclines toward the Gallowgate End, Newcastle generally favor attacking that direction during the second half. Nevertheless, Bruno Guimaraes possesses dismal luck when predicting heads or tails, frequently resulting in the ‘spin’ being awarded to opposing captains, much to the irritation of home supporters.
Least likely to…
Accept the incoming badge update quietly. The organization has revealed intentions to ‘enhance and revitalize’ its current emblem in time for 2026/27. This measure is perhaps timely, given that the existing badge was manually designed in 1988 and has never been properly digitized, complicating precise reproduction. Manchester United and Sunderland represent the only other Premier League teams yet to implement updates since the turn of the millennium.
FFT verdict
4TH The Magpies require only a few strategic acquisitions to establish themselves among the elite. They are primed for ascent.

Last season was our best in current memory.
The major point for discussion is PSR – still. Though, finally, Howe is positioned to recruit players prepared for immediate inclusion in the first team.
Our pivotal player will be Isak (contingent on him staying), who tallied 27 goals during the past season despite performing below par during its initial third and possibly contending with an injury throughout its final third.
Keep an eye on midfielder Alfie Harrison. Having joined from Manchester City during 2024, the 19-year-old might be ready to contribute to the first team, given the additional matches slated for this season.
The pantomime antagonist will be Jordan Pickford.
The opposition participant that irritates me is Amad Diallo. Once on loan at Sunderland, he currently acts as if he detests us for online credibility among followers of a club he represented for about five minutes, leaving at his earliest convenience. If you admire them so much, play for them.

The current player I wish we could bring back is Chris Wood, given our failure to suitably replace him.
The modification I would implement involves sincere interaction with supporters
