Newcastle’s Striker Crisis Deepens: Another Exit Looms in January

The Tyneside club could potentially see another forward player leave their squad during the January transfer period.

The summer dealings for the Magpies were largely about Alexander Isak, who in the end transferred to a rival club for a record-breaking sum of £125m.

The manager’s team eventually signed adequate replacements to enable the Isak departure, with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa arriving from Stuttgart and Brentford, respectively.

Having finally settled their striker lineup, the north-east team now faces further instability.

According to one report, Newcastle striker William Osula is prepared to depart from the Premier League club.

It is understood that Eintracht Frankfurt attempted to secure the Danish player’s services during the summer, but in the midst of the chaos created by the Isak deal, Newcastle withdrew from negotiations.

Based on reports, the German team maintains its interest but faces competition from Bundesliga team Stuttgart.

It is thought that a deal worth €25 million could be sufficient to complete the transfer, perhaps including an initial loan period, which is comparable to the arrangement that Frankfurt was reported to have negotiated in the summer.

Osula has played in 14 games for Newcastle so far this season in all competitions, netting three goals, but he will almost certainly fall behind Wissa in the selection hierarchy when the DR Congo international is healthy again.

In one outlet’s opinion, a transfer away for Osula seems logical.

He is getting playing time while Wissa is sidelined, but the fact that the Magpies believed they needed a fresh acquisition to fill Callum Wilson’s position rather than allowing the young player to take over, demonstrates his present standing.

Osula will struggle to find playing time at St James’ Park for the foreseeable future with two players of Woltemade and Wissa’s caliber ahead of him, and he is at a stage where he needs to be playing.

According to a football website, Osula is worth €15 million. Newcastle United will play Marseille next when Champions League action resumes the following week.
