The kickoff week of the 2025 professional football campaign is almost done, with Sunday’s slate of contests now concluded.

Although it’s still early, gridiron devotees may have already witnessed the season’s most thrilling game. Sunday culminated in the Buffalo squad’s remarkable 41-40 rally against the Baltimore squad. The Buffalo team trailed by 15 points in the closing quarter but managed to fight back, securing victory with a last-second field goal from their new placekicker, Matt Prater.

Buffalo’s signal-caller, Josh Allen, concluded the night by calling out some Buffalo supporters who lost hope and left the stadium early. It served as a timely reminder that, in professional football, the contest isn’t decided until the final whistle.

Earlier, the Green Bay squad established an early advantage in what is expected to be a competitive division race, securing a 27-13 triumph against the Detroit squad. Newly acquired defensive player Micah Parsons lauded the Green Bay fanbase for their warm reception, calling it a “unique” experience.

Aaron Rodgers seemed to rediscover his winning form with four touchdown passes in the Pittsburgh squad’s 34-32 victory over the New York squad. After the contest, Rodgers stated he was “pleased to defeat everyone associated with the New York team,” his former team.

“There were likely individuals within the organization who doubted my ability to continue playing,” he added. “So, it felt good to show them that I am still capable.”

Notable injuries from Sunday’s games include George Kittle leaving the San Francisco team’s game in the second quarter due to a hamstring issue. Las Vegas tight end Brock Bowers sustained a knee injury versus the New England team, and medical personnel did not permit his return. Atlanta receiver Drake London injured his shoulder during their final drive against the Tampa Bay team.

Elsewhere during Week 1, San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan informed reporters that the team was not contemplating a change at kicker, despite Jake Moody missing two of his three field-goal attempts. One attempt from 36 yards was blocked by Seattle’s Julian Love, and a 27-yard attempt bounced off the left upright.

New England head coach Mike Vrabel also faces scrutiny for questionable late-game decisions in a 20-13 defeat to the Las Vegas team. Trailing by 10 points with 4:53 left in the fourth quarter, Vrabel chose to punt on fourth-and-10 from midfield. Subsequently, he explained that he believed the defense could stop the Las Vegas team, but they completed a 36-yard pass on third-and-20. On the New England team’s final possession, they kicked a field goal with 19 seconds remaining.
