The renowned esports organisation, Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP), has revealed plans for a special 25th Anniversary Counter-Strike Showmatch, made possible through a collaboration with their jersey sponsor, Rainbet.
This celebratory event aims to gather iconic NIP figures, including prominent names such as Patrik ‘f0rest’ Lindberg and Christopher ‘GeT_RiGhT’ Alesund, alongside members of the current active roster. These players will engage in a friendly competition scheduled for November 5th at 5 PM BST.
The celebrated duo, f0rest and GeT_RiGhT, boasts a significant history within the Counter-Strike (CS) competitive landscape, marked by their extensive presence since the early 2000s and a collaborative journey spanning over seven years under the NIP banner.
Notably, during their tenure on NIP’s active lineup, these two players achieved a remarkable milestone by establishing a record for the most extended winning streak in CS esports. Their impressive feat involved securing 97 consecutive victories, spanning from August 2012 to April 2013. Subsequently, in the following year, they proudly claimed the coveted ESL One: Cologne trophy while representing the Swedish esports organisation.
“I am excited to celebrate this important occasion for NIP alongside my former teammates from more than ten years ago,” expressed f0rest in an official statement.
“Together, we accomplished a Major championship and a win record that remains unbroken today. Now, the time has come to demonstrate our enduring capabilities against some of the world’s finest players, who currently and proudly represent NIP.”
The remaining participants in the showmatch’s all-star roster will be revealed progressively in the days leading up to the event.
In the meantime, the contemporary generation of Ninjas in Pyjamas will be represented by CS players such as Rasmus ‘sjuush’ Beck, Artem ‘r1nkle’ Moroz, and Kacper ‘xKacpersky’ Gabara. Additionally, Ksenia ‘vilga’ Klyuenkova and Mia ‘aiM’ Cooper from the women’s division (NIP Impact) will also be participating.
How to Watch the Showmatch
The showmatch will adopt a best-of-three (BO3) format, with the possibility of an additional match should the series conclude with a 2-0 score.
Enthusiastic fans can join the spectacle through NIP’s official YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as on the Twitch channels of f0rest and GeT_RiGhT. Furthermore, a watch party with limited seating will be hosted at Stockholm’s Red Bull Gaming Sphere, where f0rest will actively participate and stream the event.
