Norrie Falls to Vacherot After Alcaraz Upset

The competitor from Monaco has emerged victorious in 10 out of the 12 matches they’ve played against players ranked within the top 50 this year, with Norrie, currently ranked number 31 globally, being the most recent opponent to be defeated.

Norrie conceded only two points on their serve during the initial set, but was unable to take advantage of the single break point opportunity they had, ultimately falling short in the tie-break.

The British player received jeers from the audience in Paris when they attempted to rally support by raising their arms during the second set.

They subsequently missed two additional break point opportunities at 2-2 and then lost their serve in the subsequent game.

With the advantage on their side and the conclusion of the match drawing near, Vacherot successfully defended against two more break points to establish a 5-3 lead before gesturing to the crowd by cupping their hand to their ear and waving their racquet.

They secured the win on their second opportunity when Norrie’s forehand shot landed in the net.
