Securing their fourth consecutive victory, the Edmonton Oilers defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Saturday, with Connor McDavid collecting his 10th assist and 13th point of the campaign.

Vasily Podkolzin netted his fifth goal of the year, alongside markers from Mattias Ekholm and Alex Formenton for Edmonton, while netminder Tristan Jarry turned aside 19 shots.

After being sidelined for two contests due to a lower-body issue, San Jose team captain Macklin Celebrini made his return and registered his first goal of the season around the middle of the final period.

The opening goal came from Ekholm 12:37 into the first frame. Podkolzin widened Edmonton’s advantage 3:13 into the third frame off a pass from McDavid, whose assist pushed him past Jack Eichel to top the NHL in both points and assists.

Approximately two minutes after that, Formenton pushed the score to 3-0 using a backhand finish.

Although Celebrini broke the shutout for San Jose halfway through the third, the Sharks were unable to mount a successful rally.

In goal for San Jose, Yaroslav Askarov turned away 17 pucks.
