Jarry made his return to the ice earlier on Tuesday, participating in an optional session where he faced pucks. Knoblauch mentioned that the goalie might be cleared for complete team practice sometime in the upcoming week.
Jarry’s absence from games dates back to December 18, when he incurred a lower-body ailment while stopping a shot during a 3-1 victory against Boston.
This injury occurred approximately seven days following the acquisition of the two-time all-star from Pittsburgh in a trade. Prior to his incapacitation, he secured wins in all three of his starts for Edmonton.
The placement of Jarry on the long-term injured reserve roster occurred concurrently with the Oilers’ activation of forward Kasperi Kapanen, who had been inactive since October 19 due to a lower-body injury.
Kapanen, having recorded two assists over six games this season, was cleared to play in the Oilers’ Tuesday evening match against the visiting Nashville Predators. Connor Ingram was slated to be the starting goaltender for Edmonton.
