Uncrowned will have live up-to-the-minute coverage of Vergil Ortiz Jr. versus Erickson Lubin, encompassing fight updates in real-time, in-depth round analysis, event highlights, fighter entrances, and the official commencement time for the Ortiz Jr. against Lubin showdown set for Saturday evening at the Dickies Arena, situated in Fort Worth, Dallas. Vergil Ortiz Jr. puts his WBC interim super welterweight title on the line when he faces off against Erickson Lubin, a contest pitting two high-ranking competitors against each other.
Ortiz Jr., boasting a record of 23 victories and no losses, with 21 wins achieved via knockout, secured the WBC interim title through a majority decision triumph over Serhii Bohachuk back in August 2024. Since then, he has successfully defended his title once, achieving a unanimous decision win against Israil Madrimov this past February, during the undercard event for the Artur Beterbiev versus Dmitry Bivol 2 match.
Lubin, with a record of 27 wins and 2 losses, including 19 knockouts, suffered a first-round knockout loss against Jermell Charlo in his previous title bid in 2017. He then put together a streak of six consecutive victories, which was halted by Sebastian Fundora in a 2022 bout considered a Fight of the Year contender for the WBC interim title. Following that setback, Lubin has accumulated three additional victories, including a technical knockout win over Ardreal Holmes Jr. in an IBF final eliminator this past May. He now seeks another opportunity at the highest echelons of the sport.
WBA interim titleholder Jaron “Boots” Ennis, accompanied by his promoter, Eddie Hearn, are scheduled to be present at ringside for the Ortiz versus Lubin fight. Their intention is to publicly challenge Ortiz if he emerges victorious. Hearn has indicated that Ennis has already formalized his agreement to face Ortiz in 2026, and Ortiz’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, has expressed openness to the potential matchup.
The Ortiz Jr. versus Lubin preliminary bouts are slated to commence at 6:00 p.m. ET and will be available for viewing via Uncrowned through the provided means.
