Rainbow Six Siege X has indicated through a message on X that its forthcoming collaborative effort will be associated with the well-known loot-and-shoot game series, Borderlands.

Additional details concerning the collaborative event are slated to be unveiled on July 15th, 2025, thereby substantiating earlier speculations circulated online regarding this collaborative endeavor.

The promotional material revealed limited information, with the exception of an in-game depiction of the fresh Borderlands-themed appearance. This appearance showcased the Psycho-Bandit, recognized as the prominent figure of the Borderlands series. Furthermore, there was a brief glimpse of a firearm aesthetic employing cell-shading, mirroring the distinctive visual style of the Borderlands franchise, alongside a prospective MVP celebratory animation featuring a dropped igniter.

Borderlands has now achieved recognition as the inaugural collaborative brand incorporated into Rainbow Six Siege since the implementation of the Siege X update, which introduced enriched graphical elements, improved auditory features, round-based ban options, and additional enhancements to the gaming experience.

Speculation started to disseminate across online platforms pertaining to a possible Borderlands-themed event during the R6 RE:LO:AD tournament held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, back in May of the current year. As documented by Siege.GG, observers noted a Borderlands-inspired mask from the vantage point of Lee “GoodBoy” Ji-heon during a match involving BNK FEARX and G2 Esports.

Subsequently, Game Post reported on publicly available leakage concerning prospective character modifications anticipated for implementation within the game. The leaked images propose that Mozzie will potentially acquire a Male Psycho Bandit appearance, and IQ may potentially obtain a Lilith appearance. Furthermore, it is implied that Mozzie’s Commando-9 assault rifle and IQ’s 552 Commando assault rifle will both hypothetically incorporate Borderlands-themed gun customizations. Ubisoft has yet to officially affirm the authenticity of these disclosed details.

It is not unprecedented for Rainbow Six Siege to unveil collaborative character modifications that pay tribute to other franchises. Seasoned enthusiasts may recall Sledge’s Master Chief specialized appearance derived from the Halo series, as well as Ash’s Lara Croft specialized appearance inspired by the Tomb Raider franchise.

Ubisoft has yet to communicate any intentions regarding esports-related activities during the crossover’s launch phase. Nevertheless, Rainbow Six Siege X will be hosting numerous esports gatherings in the upcoming weeks, encompassing the Element Five event scheduled to run until August 3rd, the secondary-tier R6 Central Combine, in addition to the forthcoming tournament taking place during the Esports World Cup from August 5th through 9th, 2025.
