EAGAN, Minn. — Isaiah Rodgers, a cornerback for the Minnesota Vikings, communicated on social platform X Monday that he has been subjected to “some of the most racially charged remarks” he has encountered since commencing his NFL career, this following a 28-22 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles.
A screen capture shared by Rodgers on Instagram displayed several messages containing a racial slur. In another communication, a social media participant commented, “ur worse than Hitler.” In another screen capture, the same individual subsequently issued an apology.
Rodgers served as the Vikings’ primary defensive player on a couple of pivotal plays that energized the Eagles, notably a 79-yard touchdown pass caught by DeVonta Smith during the third quarter and a 45-yard reception by A.J. Brown in the fourth quarter, effectively securing the victory. He assumed full responsibility after the game, stating, “I put it on me” and further noting: “I came here for a purpose, and I know I can execute those kinds of plays. So, I place the onus on myself.”
In a message posted on X, Rodgers asserted that “Racism is real.”

Rodgers was a member of the Eagles for the 2024 season before agreeing to a two-year, $15 million free agent agreement with the Vikings in March.
During Week 3, he became the first player in NFL history to achieve two defensive touchdowns and compel two fumbles in a single game. He accomplished these feats in the first half of the Vikings’ 48-14 triumph over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Vikings’ subsequent game is scheduled for Thursday night against the Los Angeles Chargers.
