Ronnie O’Sullivan achieved a significant milestone in professional snooker, recording a maximum break of 153 during the World Open.
The veteran player, aged 50, accomplished this impressive feat following an early strategic move in the initial frame against quarter-final rival Ryan Day, where Day’s unsuccessful escape from a snooker position granted O’Sullivan a free ball.
This opportunity enabled the record seven-time world champion to initiate his scoring run with the green ball, subsequently potting his first black to accumulate eight points prior to potting any red balls.
Subsequently, O’Sullivan systematically potted all 15 red balls, complemented by 13 additional black balls and two pinks, ultimately clearing the remaining colours to finalize the unprecedented 153 score.
