The Indonesian esports entity, Rex Requm Qeon (RRQ), has revealed a partnership with the acclaimed manga and anime franchise, Frieren.
Limited specifics have been disclosed, but this joint venture is anticipated to commence shortly and will be available solely within Indonesia. The precise nature of the partnership remains unconfirmed.
Kanehito Yamada authors the continuing manga publication, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. This manga was adapted into an anime TV series in 2023, and its subsequent season debuted in January of the current year.
The narrative centers on the exploits of Frieren, an elven sorceress who once contributed to vanquishing the global Demon King alongside Himmel the Hero’s group. With fresh allies, Frieren now undertakes a quest to the spiritual sanctuary to reconnect with Himmel.
“A fresh expedition has commenced; it is less about the voyage itself and more about the recollections made during it. As of today, RRQ is officially partnering with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” RRQ conveyed through its social media announcement.
“Similar to Frieren, who persists onward even after a quest concludes, RRQ is prepared to exceed its boundaries to forge a truly memorable narrative.”
Established in 2013, RRQ originated as an esports entity catering to Indonesia’s premier Dota competitors. Currently, the organization supports teams in various games, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Apex Legends, VALORANT, and Tekken 8.
Its present collaborators encompass the mobile payment service ShopeePay, the instant noodle producer Pop Mie, and the gaming hardware manufacturer Asus ROG.
Esports Embraces Anime Partnerships
RRQ is certainly not the inaugural esports organization to forge an alliance with a manga or anime series. For numerous years, its contemporaries have utilized beloved Japanese media to enhance their offerings for the youthful esports demographic.
As an illustration, during the previous year, Sentinels partnered with Haikyuu!!, and G2 Esports joined forces with Solo Leveling. Furthermore, other entities within esports and gaming, like the accessories manufacturer Razer, have also introduced anime-themed collaborations.
