Ryder Cup: US & European Teams at Bethpage Black

The premier contest in golf is upon us.

Twelve of the most skilled American golfers will compete against their European counterparts this weekend at Bethpage Black in New York, vying for the Ryder Cup. While the core of the European team remains consistent from two years prior, the U.S. side features some fresh faces eager to assist in defending their home turf for the third consecutive time.

Here’s an overview of the 24 golfers who will be on the course this weekend on Long Island.

U.S. Team roster

Captain: Keegan Bradley
Vice Captains: Jim Furyk, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Gary Woodland

Scottie Scheffler
Ryder Cup record: 2-2-3
2025 wins: 6

Despite a less-than-stellar Ryder Cup showing previously — Scottie Scheffler went 0-2-2 in Rome — his current form is unmatched. The world’s leading golfer secured six victories on the PGA Tour this past season, consistently placing within the top 10 since mid-March.

Xander Schauffele
Ryder Cup record: 4-4-0
2025 wins: 0

Although he didn’t claim a win this past season and skipped the warm-up event, Xander Schauffele maintained a flawless cut record and contended in three of the four major championships. He’s solidified his position as the No. 3 ranked player globally. However, his performance in Italy saw him go just 1-3-0.

J.J. Spaun
Ryder Cup record: Rookie
2025 wins: 1

J.J. Spaun emerged victorious at the U.S. Open this past season, earning his place on the Ryder Cup team for the first time. He faced defeat in a playoff twice during the season and secured seven top-10 finishes.

Russell Henley
Ryder Cup record: Rookie
2025 wins: 1

Russell Henley is set to participate in his inaugural Ryder Cup following a standout season on Tour. He clinched the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and followed it up with seven top-10 finishes. He’s maintained a streak of avoiding cuts since mid-May, propelling him to a career-high No. 4 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Harris English
Ryder Cup record: 1-2-0
2025 wins: 1

Harris English returns for his second Ryder Cup appearance after missing the mark two years prior. He posted a 1-2-0 record in 2021. English secured second-place finishes at two majors this past season.

Bryson DeChambeau

Despite being the sole LIV Golf representative on the U.S. team, Bryson DeChambeau is a seasoned member of the group. He debuted alongside Justin Thomas back in 2018 and achieved top-10 finishes in three of the four major championships this past season. Bradley’s eagerness to include him underscores his value, regardless of earning an automatic spot.

Justin Thomas stands as the most experienced player on the American team this time. Since his debut in 2018, he’s secured seven match wins. While his PGA Tour form may have dipped recently, Thomas’s Ryder Cup prowess is undeniable.

Collin Morikawa

2025 wins: 0

Although his PGA Tour season was relatively subdued, Collin Morikawa brings valuable Ryder Cup experience to the team. He recorded a 3-0-1 score the last time the event was held on U.S. soil and only missed three cuts this past year.

Ben Griffin

2025 wins: 2

Ben Griffin is set to make his Ryder Cup debut, building on a career-best season on the PGA Tour. His runner-up finish at the Procore Championship earlier this month was one of 11 top-10 finishes he achieved throughout the season.

Cameron Young
Ryder Cup record: Rookie
2025 wins: 1

Fellow Ryder Cup rookie, Cameron Young, celebrated his first PGA Tour victory this season at the Wyndham Championship in August. Since then, he hasn’t finished lower than solo 11th.

Patrick Cantlay
Ryder Cup record: 5-2-1
2025 wins: 0

Patrick Cantlay’s PGA Tour win drought extends beyond three years. Nonetheless, he boasts one of the team’s strongest Ryder Cup records, posting a 2-2-0 score in Rome amid struggles for other Americans. Just maybe don’t ask him to wear the team hat.

Sam Burns
Ryder Cup record: 1-2-0
2025 wins: 0

Sam Burns makes his return for his second Ryder Cup this fall after recording a 1-2-0 score in his debut in Italy. Burns registered six top-10 finishes on Tour this past season.

His world No. 2 ranking is well-deserved, and he is very familiar with this format.

Robert MacIntyre

Robert MacIntyre didn’t secure a PGA Tour win this past season, he posted six top-10 finishes and finished second at the U.S. Open. His Ryder Cup debut two years ago was impressive, earning him 2.5 points.

Like Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose is a mainstay on the European team. This marks his seventh Ryder Cup appearance since 2008. He also nearly derailed McIlroy’s win at Augusta National, proving he’s still in top form.

Rasmus Højgaard

Rasmus Højgaard stands as the lone rookie on Europe’s Ryder Cup team, stepping in for his twin brother after he played his way onto the team. Højgaard bested Rory McIlroy at last year’s Irish Open and secured second place at the DP World Tour Championship.

Tyrrell Hatton
