According to Saquon Barkley, the Philadelphia Eagles’ defeat against the Chicago Bears felt strange, commenting that the game’s progression seemed unusual from the start. The prominent running back’s contributions for the Eagles have been inconsistent this year. Barkley has accumulated 740 rushing yards from 198 attempts, scoring four touchdowns.
In his post-game remarks, Barkley mentioned that the offense had difficulty maintaining momentum during drives and requires development in this aspect.
“Reflecting on the game, it had an odd, atypical feeling; something felt amiss out there,” Barkley shared with reporters after the game. “I believe we need to enhance our ability to sustain drives. … It’s an area we must focus on and improve.”
The Bears dominated the Eagles, achieving 281 rushing yards in a 24-15 victory. Kyle Monangai and D’Andre Swift both exceeded 100 rushing yards each. Chicago’s record improved to 9-3 as their ground game dictated the pace. Rookie head coach Ben Johnson celebrated the triumph by enthusiastically removing his shirt in the locker room.
Barkley also stated that the team does not require significant alterations, despite external critiques. He expressed robust confidence in the players and coaching staff within the locker room.
“I don’t believe substantial changes are necessary,” Barkley commented. “There’s external panic, which we’re aware of, but I have immense faith in everyone in this locker room, including the coaches, and we’ll overcome this together.”

This season, Barkley’s average of 3.7 yards has declined amid the team’s offensive difficulties. He was restricted to 56 yards on 13 carries against Chicago, marking his ninth game with 60 or fewer rushing yards. Barkley has also contributed 259 receiving yards, maintaining a substantial workload.
The Eagles, now at 8-4, have suffered two consecutive losses and are facing growing discontent from their fanbase. Philadelphia managed only 17 plays in the first half and struggled to establish a consistent rhythm. Jalen Hurts completed two touchdown passes to A.J. Brown, but turnovers and missed opportunities hindered the team.
Barkley struggled to overcome a Chicago defense missing several linebackers. Philadelphia will seek to recover when they visit the Chargers on Dec. 8.
