Scotland Squad’s Message to Fans

Jamie Dobie is optimistic that Scotland can partially restore relations with their dissatisfied fanbase by concluding their underwhelming Autumn Series with a convincing performance against Tonga this Sunday.

The Scottish team faced jeers from a shocked Murrayfield audience after squandering a 21-0 advantage against Argentina, succumbing to a 33-24 defeat following a collapse in the final thirty minutes.

Having also wasted a prime chance to secure their inaugural triumph over New Zealand the week prior, head coach Gregor Townsend has faced significant criticism recently, as his team’s failure to achieve positive outcomes against significant opposition becomes more apparent.

Although a win is the baseline expectation against a Tongan team currently ranked 19th globally, it won’t change the reality that they have suffered defeats in all six encounters during 2025 against teams presently holding positions in the top eight.

“I believe we owe it to ourselves and the supporters who have shown up for us,” expressed scrum-half Dobie. “We acknowledge the extent of their support last week during the match against New Zealand, and even on Sunday when the tide turned against us.”

“They are understandably disappointed, and we are determined to showcase our best rugby in front of them. We have enjoyed consistent support for several years now.”

“Our aim is to conclude the campaign on a positive note against Tonga and deliver a performance that we, as a collective, can take pride in, helping us rebound from the recent weekends and finish on a strong note.”
