Scottie Scheffler Wins 2025 PGA Tour Player of the Year, Fourth Straight, Matching Tiger Woods

For an impressive fourth consecutive season, Scottie Scheffler has been honored with the Jack Nicklaus Award, recognizing him as the 2025 PGA Tour Player of the Year. Scheffler now stands as only the second individual in history to secure this accolade four years in a row, joining the legendary Tiger Woods in this exclusive group.

Scheffler’s collection of four PGA Tour Player of the Year awards places him second overall, trailing only Woods who boasts eleven. This achievement propels the Texan past Rory McIlroy, with whom he was previously tied at three awards before the start of this season. Scheffler bested McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Ben Griffin for the distinguished recognition.

“On behalf of the PGA Tour, we extend our congratulations to Scottie Scheffler for being designated PGA Tour Player of the Year and to Aldrich Potgieter for earning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honors for 2025,” stated CEO Brian Rolapp. “Scottie’s unvarying level of achievement has been nothing short of phenomenal as he continues to pursue historical milestones on the PGA TOUR, and we eagerly anticipate what he will accomplish in 2026.”

Scheffler accumulated six wins on the PGA Tour for the second successive season, despite his year commencing only in February at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am due to an offseason hand injury. In doing so, he became merely the second player, alongside Woods, to record six or more victories across multiple seasons since 1983.

The global number one gradually hit his stride, claiming his initial title at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson where his 31-under 253 score equaled the PGA Tour’s lowest 72-hole performance. He then captured the PGA Championship two weeks later and was the first player since Woods to successfully defend his Memorial title with a dominant four-stroke victory over Griffin.

Scheffler secured the third component of the career grand slam through a commanding display at Royal Portrush during The Open Championship. When the FedEx Cup Playoffs commenced, he added another piece of hardware at the BMW Championship, largely due to a clutch chip-in birdie on the 71st hole that effectively cemented his victory.

Scheffler’s sixth and final triumph of the season occurred at the inaugural event of the FedEx Cup Fall, the Procore Championship, where he once again outperformed Griffin.

With his six tournament wins, Scheffler’s career victory tally on the PGA Tour ascended to 19. He led the statistics in both overall scoring average and the average scores for Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4 – marking him as the first to achieve this particular feat since Woods in the year 2000. Scheffler concluded all 20 of his starts within the top 25, with 17 of those also ranking as top 10 finishes.
