Seán Edogbo has secured a promotion to Munster’s primary team, signing a contract spanning two years.
Hailing from Cobh, the 21-year-old loose forward has emulated his elder sibling, Edwin, who is a well-known Munster athlete and first played for Ireland against Italy during the second round of the Six Nations tournament.
Seán, who is two years younger than his brother, has likewise represented Ireland in international rugby, competing at the U20 tier. He famously scored the deciding try in a match against Italy at Virgin Media Park in 2024, the same year he became part of Munster’s Academy.
His initial senior appearance for Munster occurred in January, playing against the Dragons at Virgin Media Park. Following an outstanding display in a 22-20 victory, he was awarded Player of the Match, and subsequently played a full 80 minutes against Glasgow the following week.
Edogbo stands as the second individual from the existing Academy cohort to advance to Munster’s top-tier team for the upcoming season.
Confirmation was previously issued that Ben O’Connor, a 21-year-old back-three specialist, will similarly join the senior ranks on a two-year agreement. He has already participated in 17 matches for Munster, encompassing five showings in the Champions Cup.
