Seth Trimble Out Indefinitely with Broken Forearm

The University of North Carolina Tar Heels, currently ranked 25th, will have to proceed without Seth Trimble for an undetermined duration.

Trimble sustained a fracture in his left forearm during a team training session this past Sunday, as revealed by the university. While the exact details of the injury remain undisclosed, it has been confirmed that he will undergo surgery later in the week. Trimble’s return is uncertain at this time, and a more precise estimate for his recovery will be provided following the surgical procedure.

“This is disheartening news for Seth,” expressed head coach Hubert Davis in a released statement. “He is an exceptional young man and teammate, having dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his final year. His passion for being a Tar Heel is evident, and we deeply value him. Fortunately, he is expected to return to play at some point this season, and I am confident he will maintain his role as a strong leader for our team until he is able to rejoin us on the court.”

Trimble, a senior leader, recorded an average of 11.6 points and secured five rebounds per game in the previous season with the Tar Heels. He contributed 17 points and eight rebounds in UNC’s significant 87-74 victory over No. 19 Kansas on Friday evening. This win elevated the Tar Heels’ record to 2-0 for the current season.

With Trimble unavailable, North Carolina will probably rely on newcomer Luka Bogavac and former West Virginia player Jonathan Powell to compensate for his absence. Bogavac, a freshman hailing from Montenegro, scored five points in 19 minutes against the Jayhawks on Friday, having received clearance to participate from the NCAA the previous week, shortly before their inaugural game of the season.

Last season saw North Carolina achieve a record of 23-14, narrowly securing a spot in the NCAA tournament after securing victories in eight of their final ten contests. The Tar Heels are scheduled to host Radford on the upcoming Tuesday, followed by NC Central on Friday. Additionally, they have scheduled games against No. 22 Michigan State, No. 9 Kentucky, and Ohio State as part of their nonconference schedule before the year concludes, all of which will pose increased challenges in Trimble’s absence.
