Jannik Sinner concluded his 2025 tennis year impressively, defeating world number one Carlos Alcaraz in two closely contested sets to retain his ATP Finals championship in Turin.
The Italian tennis star secured the title for the second year running without conceding a set during the entire tournament, claiming a 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 victory in the final match, and his winning streak now stands at 31 consecutive matches on indoor hard court surfaces.
This marks Sinner’s second triumph in six final showdowns against Spaniard Alcaraz this season, narrowing their overall head-to-head record to 10-6.
Despite falling short of the year-end number one ranking, this victory concludes a highly successful year on the court for Sinner, during which he clinched two Grand Slam titles and advanced to all four major finals.
He was absent for three months of the season due to a suspension for violating anti-doping regulations, but he still managed to collect six titles – the second-highest number of his career – after reaching the final in 10 out of the 12 tournaments he participated in.
This most recent victory extends his remarkable record at the season-ending tournament, where he has remained undefeated since his loss to Novak Djokovic in the 2023 final.
Sinner joins the ranks of Lleyton Hewitt, Roger Federer, and Djokovic as only the fourth player to successfully defend the men’s singles title this century.
