Individuals familiar with Sinner’s thinking informed BBC Sport that he believes Ferrara, previously linked with Matteo Berrettini, has grown from past errors.
Ferrara holds a qualification in medication production methods and was initially picked by Sinner to guide him specifically on matters regarding anti-doping regulations.
The original separate hearing revealed that Ferrara gave the liquid to Naldi with a caution – yet understanding it contained a banned component and the therapist would handle Sinner using his uncovered hands.
Within his arguments – detailed within the hearing’s conclusion in late summer – Sinner’s authorized group claimed that it was “not the seriousness of Mr Ferrara’s oversight that the sportsperson is liable for but his choice in nominating Mr Ferrara originally and his supervising of him”.
In achieving an agreement with Sinner, Wada stated Sinner returned a positive test as a consequence of the “carelessness of associates” and, under its regulations, this is carelessness a competitor is responsible for.
BBC Sport has questioned Sinner’s team if Ferrara will again be in control of anti-doping subjects.
However, Sinner is positive he can have faith in Ferrara once more and – significantly for a sportsperson aiming for the biggest honors – considers the recovery of an identifiable presence is essential to keeping his position at the height of the sport.
