The renowned video game creator, SNK, has revealed intricate specifics pertaining to the upcoming 2025 SNK World Championship (SWC). This prestigious event is scheduled to take place at DreamHack Atlanta, spanning from October 31st to November 2nd.

Within this championship, competitors will engage in intense battles for a substantial prize pool totaling $4.1m (~£3.04m). This prize money will be distributed across four distinct Fighting Game Community (FGC) titles, namely: Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (CotW), The King of Fighters (KOF) XV, Samurai Shodown, and Art of Fighting 3 (AOF3).

This tournament, orchestrated and administered by ESL FACEIT Group, will showcase elite FGC players vying for supremacy at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. In addition, the event will incorporate a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) during the initial day of competition, excluding The Art of Fighting 3, which is structured as an open tournament.

Each individual tournament will be characterised by a varying number of participants. Fatal Fury: CotW and KOF XV will each feature 32 players, subsequently narrowing down to six for the grand finale. Of particular note, the prize pool for Fatal Fury: CotW is confirmed to be $2.5m (~£1.85m), with a significant $1.5m (~£1.11m) allocated to the ultimate champion.

The victor of KOF XV is slated to receive $500,000 (~£370,277) from the overall $1m (~£740,555) prize pool.

Samurai Shodown, conversely, will encompass 16 players, including four qualifiers, and culminate in three finalists, all contending for a combined $500,000 (~£370,277) prize pool. The remaining $100,000 (~£74,055) will be awarded to the highest-performing players in the AOF3 open tournament, which anticipates a total of 256 participants, with three players advancing to the final stage.

Other esports competitions taking place at DreamHack Atlanta

The SNK World Championship will not stand alone as the exclusive major esports contest at the event. Previously this year, both the Clash of Clans World Championship and the Clash Royale League World Finals were designated for inclusion in the event.

Additional tournaments include the DreamHack Knockout CS2, offering victors an opportunity to secure qualification for the ESL Pro League S23, along with the FC Pro Open Global Qualifier, featuring the top 64 EA FC players worldwide.
