Tottenham Hotspur appears poised to name Igor Tudor as their temporary manager until the current season concludes, with plans to secure a long-term successor for Thomas Frank in the upcoming summer period.
The club has reportedly established an oral understanding with Tudor, and the 47-year-old is expected to sign an agreement with the team valid only until the end of the campaign, without any provision for a permanent role.
Frank’s dismissal followed Spurs’ defeat to Newcastle mid-week, a result that left them in a precarious position, merely five points clear of the drop zone.
The incoming temporary head coach was let go by Juventus in October 2025, subsequent to an eight-game streak without a victory, which saw the club occupying eighth place in Italy’s top flight.
Throughout his coaching tenure, he also spent time managing Lazio, Marseille, and Galatasaray, though he never reached 50 matches at the helm for any of those teams.
In his playing days, he was a member of the Croatian squad that secured third place in the 1998 World Cup and made over 100 appearances for Juventus.
Given that Spurs have already been eliminated from the FA Cup, Tudor’s inaugural game at the helm will be the North London derby opposing local rivals Arsenal, providing him an immediate opportunity to assert his vision.
Tottenham had evaluated several potential candidates to guide the team through the remainder of the season, among them Edin Terzic from Borussia Dortmund and Marco Rose, who departed RB Leipzig in 2025.
Although a temporary solution has been secured for the duration of the current campaign, the club will persist in seeking a long-term appointment once the season draws to a close. Mauricio Pochettino, a previous manager for Spurs, is being contemplated, given his contract with the US men’s national team expires after this summer’s World Cup.
Roberto de Zerbi represents another potential candidate, having recently become available after his mutually agreed departure from Marseille.
