Strachan: Sesko Needs to Improve at Manchester United

Following a busy period of player acquisitions during the summer, the Manchester United squad has experienced a slow commencement to their Premier League schedule.

While certain acquisitions, like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, have displayed flashes of brilliance, opinions remain divided regarding the young forward Benjamin Sesko, who was acquired from RB Leipzig during August.

Gordon Strachan has called for patience concerning Manchester United’s new number 9, while simultaneously acknowledging that he remains unconvinced regarding the young forward’s initial performances.

‘The other attacking signings, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, have looked much better’ – Strachan has enjoyed watching the other two forwards signed over the summer

“Benjamin Sesko has seemed uncertain, to phrase it carefully,” Strachan conveyed to FourFourTwo, speaking on behalf of Esports News. “He is still a developing player, although I hold some reservations about him currently. It’s important to allow young players additional time, but I haven’t observed anything from him since his arrival that suggests significant potential.”

In contrast, Strachan has found himself considerably more impressed by Manchester United’s alternate attacking recruits. Mbeumo, signed coming from Brentford, combined with Cunha, who transferred from Wolves, have each established themselves rapidly, with the former Scotland manager singling out Mbeumo as the most noteworthy of the trio.

“The other attacking signings, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, have looked much better – Mbeumo in particular,” he says. “He’s made the difference on a few occasions for United already and he has an honesty about his game that I really like. He has really stepped up in the last few games against Liverpool, Brighton and Spurs. He could be very important for United this season.”

With Mbeumo consistently contributing goals and Cunha delivering dynamism in addition to invention, Strachan is of the opinion that Sesko is now required to elevate himself to the benchmark established by his fellow players.

“Sesko, on the other hand, needs to show more glimpses and moments like Cunha and Mbeumo have done,” Strachan continues. “It’s still early days, but he needs to be having more of an effect on games.”
