Looking back at Iga Swiatek’s career, a key observation emerges: once she gains a decisive advantage, a commanding win typically follows.
This scenario unfolded in Saturday’s Wimbledon title match, where she secured her inaugural championship with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Amanda Anisimova in just 57 minutes.
While undoubtedly difficult for the American player, it’s worth noting that she’s not the only one to experience such a lopsided defeat against Swiatek.
In the 2021 Italian Open final, Swiatek replicated this scoreline against former world number one Karolina Pliskova.
Throughout this year, a notable 12 competitors have conceded a 6-0 set to Swiatek, including Dayana Yastremska (on two occasions), Emma Raducanu, Belinda Bencic, and Victoria Azarenka.
During the Australian Open in January, Swiatek achieved 6-0 set victories in three of her initial four contests – and now, similar results are manifesting on the grass surfaces.
“Upon arriving here, I could truly prioritize self-improvement and player development, rather than feeling pressured by constant expectations to win,” stated Swiatek of Poland.
“I found that quite enjoyable, as the expectations seemed somewhat reduced.”
