This triumph entitles the squad to a substantial $1m (~£750,000) share of the competition’s total prize fund, which stands at $3m (~£2.25m), equalling the highest payout in MLBB esports history. SRG OG, as runners-up, will receive $500,000 (~£375,000).

Team Liquid Showed Superiority in the Elimination Stage

The Team Liquid PH roster consistently demonstrated exceptional prowess throughout the event, most notably during the playoff rounds.

Their journey through the Knockout Stage began with a match against Aurora Turkey, whom they specifically selected as their quarter-final opponent due to their top placement in Group A, granting them the privilege of choosing their initial rival.

Team Liquid secured a clean 3-0 victory over Aurora Turkey, progressing to the semi-finals where they were set to compete against Indonesia’s ONIC team.

Team Liquid maintained their superior form in this matchup as well, and likely would have achieved a 3-0 sweep were it not for a misstep in the third game. Leading 2-0, they aimed to conclude the series around the 12-minute mark, having destroyed two turrets in each lane, maintained full team survival, and controlled a Lord advancing down the gold lane.

However, the team became complacent, over-extended their position, and were caught off guard by ONIC. This pivotal moment shifted the game’s momentum in ONIC’s direction, enabling them to claim victory in game three.

Team Liquid PH regained their composure and won the following game, securing their spot in the grand final against the defending MSC champions, SRG OG.

Carrying the aspirations of Malaysia, SRG OG faced a challenging route to the grand final, with both of their prior series extending to the full five games. This journey underscored SRG’s tenacity and their skill in capitalizing on opponents’ mistakes.

For Team Liquid PH, winning the MSC held profound significance. In the previous year, the team had been eliminated by Falcons AP Bren in the semi-finals and had secured fifth place in the MPL Philippines, preventing them from qualifying for M6.

Consequently, this MSC event served as a crucial opportunity for the club to achieve redemption. SRG OG, however, posed the most formidable challenge to Team Liquid in the Knockout Stage.

In the opening game, the Malaysian team demonstrated the reasons for their reputation as one of the best in the world. SRG OG asserted dominance over map control in the initial match, securing a decisive victory in less than 16 minutes with nearly all of their turrets remaining intact.

Team Liquid, however, displayed resilience and determination. They experienced a surge of confidence in the following match, which fueled their performance. They demonstrated superior gameplay, concluding the game without conceding a single turret.

From that point onward, Team Liquid’s MPL Philippines division continued their momentum, securing consecutive wins, ultimately winning the series 4-1 and claiming the championship title.
