The 2026 TGL season is scheduled to commence in the period leading up to the new year, as the simulator golf league conceived by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy embarks on its second year with elevated expectations. Comprising a regular season of 15 matches between the league’s six teams, TGL will occupy similar broadcast slots as its initial season, continuing at the SoFi Center situated in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The upcoming season will feature some adjustments. The inaugural Presidents Day triple header, which showcased continuous exciting plays last year, is absent from the schedule this time around. Furthermore, TGL has chosen to include a match between Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf on Sunday, March 1, at 9 p.m. ET. This coincides with the final day of the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic, which is hosted in the vicinity.
The 2026 TGL season will begin on a Sunday, featuring a contest between the reigning champion Atlanta Drive – composed of Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, and Lucas Glover – and the New York Golf Club, in a rematch of the 2025 final. New York will aim to avenge their previous loss by deploying three players from the quartet of Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, and Matt Fitzpatrick.
Additional notable contests include Boston versus Los Angeles in the league’s sole Friday match, scheduled for Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. The remaining head-to-head matches will be conducted on Monday or Tuesday nights, encompassing the postseason, which is set to occur the week after The Players Championship.
TGL has opted to pause its events during the week of the PGA Tour’s premier tournament and will resume its playoffs in the two weeks following the activities at TPC Sawgrass. The league will conclude its season prior to the commencement of the major championship season in April.

TGL format
TGL matches consist of 15 holes divided into two segments. Golfers execute full-swing shots from surfaces replicating grass, rough, or sand onto a simulator screen. Short-game shots, defined as those under 50 yards, and putts are conducted within the SoFi Center on a dynamic green that can be adjusted and rotated. Some strategic components are included, such as the use of timeouts, a shot clock, and a “hammer”. Let’s delve into the specifics of these elements.
Holes Nos. 1-9 — Triples (3 vs. 3 alternate shot): Two teams, each composed of three players, will engage in alternate shot play throughout the first portion. For instance, if Rickie Fowler initiates the play on hole No. 1 with the tee shot, Matt Fitzpatrick will then execute the approach shot, and Xander Schauffele will handle the initial putt. This sequence will be maintained until the completion of the hole.
Holes Nos. 10-15 — Singles (head-to-head play): Subsequent to the initial nine holes of Triples, the players will transition to Singles play, which is a head-to-head format. An individual from one team will compete against an individual from the opposing team on a given hole, with the victor earning a point. Each player will complete a hole before the sequence is repeated on holes Nos. 13-15.
Overtime: 3 vs. 3 closet-to-the-pin competition
Scoring: Each hole has a value of one point, with ties resulting in zero points being awarded. Points are not carried over.
The Hammer: Each hole in a TGL match is typically worth one point; however, a team has the option to use a “hammer” (symbolic, not a physical hammer) to double the point value of a specific hole. The opposing team can choose either to accept the hammer, thereby playing the hole for two points, or to decline it, which results in the concession of the hole. Each team is allotted three hammers for use during the match.
Shot clock: Players will have 40 seconds to execute their shots, and failure to do so will result in a penalty of one stroke.
Timeouts: Each team is provided with four timeouts per match, with two available during the Triples segment and two during the Singles segment. Timeouts cannot be carried over between segments.
