The Ottawa Senators will be without their team leader, Brady Tkachuk, for a period of six to eight weeks. This comes after Tkachuk had a procedure to fix an issue affecting his right thumb, the Senators communicated Thursday.
The team’s leader sustained an injury during Monday’s 4-1 defeat against the Predators

The Ottawa Senators’ team captain, Brady Tkachuk, is anticipated to be absent for approximately six to eight weeks. This timeframe follows his recent surgical procedure aimed at addressing a problem with his right thumb, as communicated by the NHL team on Thursday.
Michael Andlauer, the owner, mentioned on Wednesday while in New York that Tkachuk was in the process of obtaining a secondary assessment. The purpose of this second opinion was to ascertain if the necessity for surgery existed.
Tkachuk’s injury occurred when he was subjected to a cross-check maneuver, sending him into the boards. This incident was perpetrated by Nashville’s Roman Josi and took place within the initial five minutes of the Monday night game involving the two teams.
The 26-year-old American left winger continued to participate in the game before his departure midway through the third period.
By undergoing the operation at this time, Tkachuk is positioned to potentially return to play in the latter part of November or early part of December. This timeline places his return well in advance of the Milan-Cortina Olympics scheduled for February. Both he and his brother Matthew, representing the Florida Panthers and also currently injured with an expected recovery extending into December, have already secured their positions on the U.S. roster.
