Latrell Sprewell functioned as an unacknowledged third part of the dominant “Three-Headed Monster” within the NBA for one particular season.
Sprewell’s reputation as a difficult personality in NBA history was further cemented during his tenure in Minnesota. Ahead of the 2004-05 season, the Timberwolves presented Sprewell with a three-year extension worth $21 million, to which he responded: “I have a family to provide for. If Glen Taylor cares about my family’s well-being, he should offer a substantial amount.”
In terms of his on-court performance, Sprewell demonstrated strong defensive capabilities while playing for Minnesota and proved to be a reliable scorer. He achieved an average of slightly below 15 points per game, a respectable figure considering the impressive performances of Sam Cassell and KG during that period.
