The Ultimate Fighting Championship and former President Donald Trump are aligned regarding a fight event on the White House’s property.

The mixed martial arts league informed NBC’s Greg Rosenstein on Friday of their intentions to organize a showcase at the President’s residence. Trump initially suggested this idea, aiming for it to take place during the United States’ 250th anniversary celebration on July 4, 2026.

“We are planning to stage a UFC match on the grounds of the White House,” Trump stated in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday. “We have a sizable area there. Each of our national parks, battlefields, and historical landmarks will feature unique events in honor of America 250. Furthermore, I anticipate we will present a UFC fight.”

The UFC representative refrained from offering further information, including the potential for the event to coincide with Independence Day.

Conor McGregor, the former two-division UFC titleholder, communicated his enthusiasm to participate. McGregor, aged 36, has been inactive since his defeat to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, and he withdrew from a proposed contest against Michael Chandler the previous summer.

“I’d be honored by the opportunity,” he posted on Twitter on Friday. “Consider me available!”

Trump and Dana White, the UFC’s CEO, maintain a strong bond. Trump has been a spectator at various UFC competitions, both before and during his term as president. More recently, Trump made an appearance at UFC 314 in Miami. White, having addressed numerous Trump rallies and the Republican National Convention, was acknowledged by the former President for contributing to his return to office in 2024.
