Following a parting of ways with Goran Ivanisevic, the erstwhile Wimbledon victor, Stefanos Tsitsipas has re-enlisted his father, Apostolos, as his coaching mentor.
The Grecian athlete’s concise association with Ivanisevic concluded in the prior week, a period spanning less than a pair of months from their initial collaboration.
Ivanisevic, the guiding force behind Novak Djokovic’s acquisition of nine out of his 24 Grand Slam championships, voiced disapproval of Tsitsipas, remarking “In all my days, I’ve never encountered an athlete so ill-prepared,” subsequent to Tsitsipas’ premature departure in the opening round at Wimbledon.
Tsitsipas attained the world’s third-ranked position under the tutelage of his father, who served as his perpetual coach from his formative years, though his ranking has since descended to the 30th spot following their separation in 2024.
“Certain odysseys possess an inherent tendency to revert to their point of origin,” Tsitsipas communicated via social media platforms subsequent to a second-round setback against Christopher O’Connell at the Canadian Open held on Wednesday.
