UFC Qatar: Cortes-Acosta Earns Performance of the Night Bonus

The Ultimate Fighting Championship descended upon Doha for today’s UFC Qatar show, with four competitors ultimately securing performance bonuses.

The fourteen-bout fight program was highlighted by a significant lightweight confrontation featuring Arman Tsarukyan battling Dan Hooker. The contest culminated in a decisive victory for Tsarukyan. The Armenian competitor managed to outperform Hooker immediately, delivering some significant strikes before transitioning the fight to the ground. Although ‘The Hangman’ endured the initial round, the situation deteriorated for the veteran in the second round. Arman Tsarukyan once more took the fight to the mat, where he unleashed a series of impactful ground strikes before ultimately executing a fight-ending arm-triangle choke. In the aftermath of his commanding triumph, Arman proceeded to challenge current UFC lightweight titleholder Ilia Topuria.

UFC Qatar show was co-featured by a critical welterweight match involving Belal Muhammad facing Ian Machado Garry. The fight evolved into a hard-fought three-round battle. Garry managed to land several effective leg kicks throughout the fifteen-minute exchange, one of which momentarily dropped the former welterweight title challenger to the mat. While Belal Muhammad managed to sneak in some respectable blows, he couldn’t find a method to bring ‘The Future’ to the ground and was eventually outmaneuvered in the stand-up exchanges. It was a positive outcome for Garry, although possibly not one that will guarantee him a title opportunity.

Following the wrap-up of today’s event, UFC authorities revealed during the post-fight press briefing that four fighters would be receiving performance bonuses.
