Last week, Draper was posing for photos showcasing the upcoming summer range for one of his partners, and he has been training consistently at the National Tennis Centre in London this week.
The focus right now is mainly on physical preparation, and when the formal pre-season training commences later this month, the initial exercises on the court will probably be of a lower intensity.
The leading British player initially experienced pain in his upper left serving arm during the clay court season in the spring, and after undergoing a scan following Wimbledon, he refrained from serving for a month.
However, the period of rest didn’t completely resolve the issue. He was victorious in his opening match at the US Open, but had to withdraw before his second match, and the chance to compete in the season-ending ATP Finals was lost.
”He’s within the top 10 players, and he competed for only half of the year. That demonstrates his level of skill…” Mouratoglou commented.
“His only challenge at this moment revolves around injuries: he has encountered numerous injuries in the past.
“I consistently believed that he possessed the potential to be a top player, but for every player with the potential to reach the top, there are obstacles that need to be addressed.
“For him, it’s about discovering methods to minimize injuries as much as possible because that has caused him to lose some time; otherwise, I believe he would be higher in the rankings.”
