Jenni Scoble has been sidelined for the final Wales game in the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 against Fiji, with Abbey Constable taking her place on the roster.
Scoble sustained a knee problem during the second period of her nation’s 42-0 defeat to Canada held at Salford Community Stadium the prior Saturday.
She has been released from Sean Lynn’s squad due to this injury, with a specialist appointment scheduled for Friday. The 34-year-old tighthead Constable is now in line to potentially debut in the World Cup, playing in the final tournament match versus Fiji at Exeter.
The Canada game dashed Wales’ chances of making the quarter-finals from Pool B, however Lynn and the Welsh team are aiming to finish their World Cup run with a victory.
Saturday’s competition at Sandy Park will feature Wales encountering their previous head coach, Ioan Cunningham, who currently coaches the Fijiana team.
However, Wales scrum-half Keira Bevan informed RugbyPass following their defeat by Canada, that the team needs to direct their concentration towards the challenge that Fiji presents on the field.
“I think it’s imperative that our strategy is not dictated by sentimentality, and instead, we approach the game practically,” Bevan stated. “Fiji will be a completely different team than any we’ve met up to this point.
“Throughout my playing career, I’ve never competed against Fiji, so that’s something we need to keep in mind. But, it’s not a reason for us to withdraw into ourselves. It’s an avenue to step forward and conclude on a positive note.”
