The cricket world is abuzz with excitement as the Ashes 2025-26 approaches. England is scheduled to tour Australia for what is expected to be a compelling battle between two long-standing cricket rivals. The stakes are elevated for both teams, as Australia aims to defend the Ashes on their home ground, while England seeks to regain the coveted trophy on foreign soil. Historically, England has faced challenges in defeating Australia on Australian soil, with their most recent Ashes series victory Down Under occurring in 2011. Expectations are high for the visiting team, who will need to navigate the Australian conditions and a passionate home crowd to leave their mark on this significant series.
David Warner predicts the scoreline of Ashes 2025-26
Former Australian opening batsman David Warner recently offered his confident forecast for the series during the Kayo Sports’ Summer of Cricket launch event. Warner dismissed the idea of an easy challenge for England, underscoring Australia’s determination to compete for the Ashes in contrast to what he referred to as a ‘moral victory’ for the visitors.
“The Australian approach will triumph because we are competing for the Ashes, while they are playing for a sense of achievement. There’s your headline,” Warner stated.
When questioned about the possible series result, Warner confidently predicted a 4-0 victory for Australia. He did mention the chance of a match being rained out, typically in Sydney, or suggested that England could gain an advantage if captain Pat Cummins is absent from a game.
“I’m inclined to stick with 4-0. There’s likely to be a washout at some point, usually in Sydney. So, 4-0 it is. It’s shaping up to be a thrilling series. Everything hinges on captain Pat Cummins. If the captain is unavailable, they might win one game. If Cummins is present, 4-0. If he’s not, they’ll probably win just one game,” Warner added.

Pat Cummins’ availability remains uncertain for Perth Test
Adding an element of uncertainty to the series, Australia’s captain and key bowler Cummins may be unable to participate in the opening Test in Perth, scheduled for November 21. Cummins has been in recovery from a back injury and recently expressed that his chances of playing in the first Test are ‘less probable than probable.’ His absence would represent a considerable setback for Australia, as the fast bowler has not bowled since the most recent Test series in the Caribbean in July and has been out of action since receiving a diagnosis of a lumbar bone stress issue in early September.
“I would say it’s probably less probable than probable, but we still have some time left,” said Cummins while speaking to reporters on Monday.
Cummins’ fitness will be carefully assessed in the coming weeks, and his involvement—or lack thereof—could significantly influence the series outcome. If he is unable to participate in any matches, Warner’s prediction indicates that England might have a slight opportunity to make an impact.
