Following this unexpected setback, the Blaugrana could once again turn their attention to Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford.

During the 2025/26 season, Rashford played on loan at Spotify Camp Nou, providing Hansi Flick with versatile options across the front line.
While the Spanish club possessed an option to secure the English forward on a permanent basis when his loan expired, they opted against activating that clause earlier this summer, choosing instead to recruit Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
Even so, Rashford’s future with the Red Devils is far from secure. Tensions between the forward and portions of the Manchester United support have grown in recent years, making a transfer before the window closes a distinct possibility for both parties.
Signing Rashford would not represent a direct substitute for Bardghji. While the teenage Swede is generally deployed on the right flank, the England star excels when cutting inside from the left wing.
Even so, bringing the 28-year-old back into the fold would offer Flick valuable tactical versatility.
Since Gordon is expected to occupy the left side, acquiring Rashford would give the La Liga giants the opportunity to field both English wingers simultaneously on opposite flanks, allowing Spanish World Cup sensation Lamine Yamal some much-needed rest after a demanding international campaign.
Re-signing Rashford, perhaps on another temporary deal, would serve as crucial cover in the event that Yamal picks up an injury.
With Barcelona working within strict financial limitations and the sudden nature of Bardghji’s injury, a permanent transfer for Rashford seems improbable.
As a result, the Catalan outfit might try to negotiate a second season-long loan with Manchester United, avoiding the steep permanent transfer fee that they have previously been reluctant to pay.
