During the ninth day of the 2026 Winter Games, the United States did not secure any additional accolades; however, as the new week commences in Italy, the American contingent maintains its third-place position in the total medal rankings.

As of now, the American team has accumulated a total of 17 awards in the current Olympic competition, mirroring Japan’s count and trailing solely behind Italy, which possesses 22, and Norway, with 26. Norway also holds the top spot for gold medals, having earned 12. The U.S. continues to hold five gold medals, primarily due to the recent outstanding performance of speed skater Jordan Stolz. On Saturday, he was a standout performer, claiming his second gold medal of these Games in the 500-meter event, establishing a new Olympic benchmark in the process. He is slated for two more chances to earn a medal in the upcoming week.

Previously on Saturday, the female ski athletes representing the U.S. increased their medal haul during the inaugural Olympic appearance of dual moguls, an event structured with a single-elimination format where competitors race head-to-head until a sole victor is determined.

On Sunday, Erin Jackson was unable to secure a top-three finish in the 500-meter speed skating event, as prominent Dutch athletes secured both gold and silver with record-breaking times. Additionally, Mikaela Shiffrin concluded her giant slalom race on Sunday in the eleventh position.
