Wrigley Field to Host 2027 MLB All-Star Game

Major League Baseball declared Friday that the MLB All-Star Game will take place at Wrigley Field on July 13, 2027.

In a statement, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred stated that “The dedication invested in transforming all of Wrigleyville into an exceptional attraction merits recognition and dissemination on a nationwide platform. We eagerly anticipate the return of the Midsummer Classic to the storied Wrigley Field and are enthusiastic about collaborating with the Cubs, municipal and state authorities, as well as the local organizing committee, to deliver a remarkable experience for Chicago’s baseball enthusiasts.”

“Crucially, through the All-Star Legacy program’s impactful initiatives, Major League Baseball and its collaborators will leave a significant and enduring mark on communities throughout Chicago.”

This occasion will mark the fourth instance of Wrigley Field hosting the Midsummer Classic, with the most recent occurrence dating back to 1990. In that year, Ryne Sandberg of the Cubs secured victory in the Home Run Derby, and the American League prevailed over the National League with a score of 2-0.

The Cubs invested upwards of $500 million in a comprehensive, phased renovation of the ballpark, which was finalized in 2019, to bolster their candidacy for hosting the game. In June, the Chicago City Council sanctioned a $32.1 million proposal to enhance security measures surrounding the stadium.

Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves, was the venue for the 2025 All-Star events, and the Philadelphia Phillies’ Citizens Bank Park is scheduled to host the 2026 All-Star Game.
