Xu Reaches Wrexham Open Quarter-Finals

Mimi Xu, representing Wales, advanced to the quarter-final stage of the Wrexham Open following a victory over Andre Lukosiute of Lithuania, achieved in two sets.

Xu secured her initial service game, but despite a strong showing from Lukosiute that enabled her to win five consecutive games and seize an advantage, Xu rallied, claiming the subsequent six games to win the set with a score of 7-5.

The Swansea native, aged 18, surrendered an early break in the second set; however, she countered to win it 7-5, thereby guaranteeing her advancement to the subsequent stage.

Xu is scheduled to participate in the doubles event alongside her British counterpart, Ella McDonald, on Thursday afternoon, where they are slated to compete against the third-seeded pair of Naima Karamoko and Jessika Ponchet.

McDonald, aged 20, secured a straight-sets triumph over Ivana Sebestova, with scores of 6-3, 7-5, thereby moving forward in the singles competition.
