An injury sustained by Elbrus Osmanov has presented an opening for Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri. This Thai combatant is now set to pursue his quest for vindication.
Osmanov pulled out of his planned bantamweight Muay Thai bout scheduled for ONE Friday Fights 137, taking place on Friday, December 19, within Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium. Consequently, Yod-IQ is escalating to the featherweight division to compete against Alexey Balyko, who holds the distinction of being his sole vanquisher in the ongoing weekly tournaments.
Their initial encounter occurred during ONE Friday Fights 33 in September 2023. Balyko landed a powerful left hook in the second round, which caused Yod-IQ to fall forcefully to the mat.
The competitor from Russia effortlessly secured a unanimous decision win. This incident appeared to be a significant, career-shaping defeat for the exceptional Thai fighter at that juncture.
However, Yod-IQ chose not to allow that particular event to dictate his future. He came back just two months subsequent to that, facing Ilyas Musaev at ONE Friday Fights 44, and has maintained an unbroken winning streak ever since.
The fighter, aged 23, representing PK Saenchai Muaythaigym, has achieved eight consecutive wins. His latest showing, battling Alessio Malatesta, demonstrated his progression, as he methodically dismantled the Italian striking specialist across three rounds in July.
Yod-IQ aims to nullify his singular loss within ONE Championship
Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri currently boasts a 10-1 standing within ONE Championship, alongside a cumulative professional record of 125-36. His continuous string of successes has established him as a premier talent in the organization.
This subsequent bout presents him with an opportunity to remove the sole defeat from his ONE Championship career history. A decisive triumph might propel him nearer to securing the highly sought-after US$100,000 agreement and a permanent position on the international lineup.
Alexey Balyko is in equally urgent need of this contest. The 32-year-old athlete from Tiger Muay Thai has suffered three consecutive losses since his win against Yod-IQ initially ignited a successful streak. He achieved knockout victories against Suakim Sor Jor Tongprajin and Stefan Korodi prior to experiencing a downturn in his performance.
Achieving a subsequent victory over Yod-IQ would terminate his series of defeats and propel him back into consideration for a contract. Both competitors are fully aware of what is at stake as they enter the ring on Friday evening.
