At the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship (WCS) 2025, hosted in Paris, KONAMI declared that the subsequent year’s championship will take place in Tokyo, Japan.

Alongside the championship revelation, the entity presented its fresh alliance with soccer icon Neymar Jr. for eFootball, as well as a special-edition capsule collection in partnership with Copenhagen-based fashion brand FINE CHAOS.

The WCS, unfolding from August 29th to August 31st at the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris, even welcomed the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron during the inaugural ceremony. The occasion signifies a comeback to Europe since 2019, the concluding offline event before the COVID-19 pandemic initiated a four-year break. Previously, the season-ending competition was organized in Seattle.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship (WCS) 2025 featured a total of four segments: Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TCG, Yu‑Gi‑Oh! Duel Links (Speed Duel format), Yu‑Gi‑Oh! Duel Links (Rush Duel format) and Yu‑Gi‑Oh! Master Duel.

In the TCG tournament, French-American Duelist Julien Kehon emerged victorious over Tom Kleinegraeber from Germany to secure the title. Kehon claimed the triumph before the local audience after participating competitively for only a year, utilizing a K9 Vanquish Soul deck.

In Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS, German player Philipp ‘Snyffus Thomas secured the SPEED DUEL trophy by narrowly besting Wei ‘kama‘” Sen Wang, while Japanese player Kenya Nagatani overcame Australian Michael ‘KiryuRyo‘ Boreham in the RUSH DUEL final.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL final, which showcased a 3v3 face-off between Duelist Cup Winners Ragnarok and the North American team Chaiba Corp, witnessed the former winning with a 5-4 result. The European team comprised Italy’s Antonio ‘N3sh’ Papa, Sweden’s Herman ‘Mist’ Hansson, and Croatia’s Luka ‘Luka‘ Forjan,

Konami unveils Yu-Gi-Oh! and eFootball crossover featuring Neymar

Hinted at during the WCS 2025 livestream, KONAMI also shared information about an upcoming collaboration between the card game and its other prominent title, eFootball.

The preview highlighted Brazilian soccer sensation Neymar Jr. accompanied by five members of the French national soccer team, featuring individuals such as goalkeeper Mike Peterson Maignan and Real Madrid luminary Kylian Mbappé. Specifics concerning the collaboration, however, are yet to be disclosed.
