Moore: Four-Year Doping Ban for British Tennis Player

The athlete from the UK expressed experiencing “a period of inactivity and psychological anguish spanning nineteen months”, further stating her public image suffered as a direct consequence of the legal proceedings.

Her return to competitive play occurred in April of the year 2024, and her participation has primarily been within the ITF World Tour circuit ever since.

Financial compensation for those who specialize in doubles matches is generally limited, notwithstanding Moore’s successful entry into the primary competition stages at both Wimbledon and the US Open during the previous year, along with the Australian Open in January of the current year.

However, subsequent to a formal inquiry conducted in March, this pronouncement from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) signifies her ineligibility to resume participation until the commencement of the 2028 competitive calendar.

“Following an examination of both the scientific data and the relevant legal documents, the prevailing opinion among the members of the Cas adjudication board was that the concerned athlete did not adequately demonstrate that the identified quantity of nandrolone present in her specimen aligned with an instance of inadvertent consumption of tainted food,” stated Cas in its official communication to the press.

“The board reached the determination that Ms. Moore was unable to substantiate the claim that the Anti-Doping Rule Violation was unintentional in nature. Consequently, the appeal lodged by the ITIA is hereby validated, and the ruling issued by the Independent Tribunal is officially rescinded.”
