The Milwaukee Brewers have designated pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, a participant in the All-Star game, to the 15-day injured reserve due to a bruise on his left shinbone.
The young player had been anticipated to begin for the Brewers this Sunday facing off against the Washington Nationals. Logan Henderson received a call-up from the Triple-A Nashville team to take his place on the mound.
Misiorowski suffered the injury during Monday’s victory over the Chicago Cubs by a score of 8-4. He was struck by a ball batted back at him from Seiya Suzuki during the initial inning. He remained in the game, eventually pitching through four innings, giving up two earned runs, three hits, two walks and seven strikeouts across 80 pitches.

“My recovery wasn’t progressing as ideally as anticipated,” Misiorowski conveyed to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I was still feeling discomfort from the impact.”
The Brewers declared Misiorowski’s placement on the IL, with it applied retroactively to July 31. This means he will be eligible for activation on Aug. 15, coinciding with the start of a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds. If he is able to return after this period, Misiorowski will have been absent for two starts.
Misiorowski’s throwing speed experienced a slight reduction during his bullpen practice between starts, according to Hogg’s report. This seemingly pushed the Brewers toward the decision to make the IL assignment. However, the team is also exercising caution with their promising player.
“I aspire to participate in every game. It’s unpleasant when you can’t. Sitting on the sidelines isn’t enjoyable. I don’t want to be on the field without my highest level of performance,” Misiorowski stated to Hogg. “I was attempting to tough it out and push through, but I comprehend. They’re prioritizing my well-being.”
By placing Misiorowski on the injured list, Milwaukee also gains the ability to carefully manage his workload. He achieved a personal best of 97 1/3 innings pitched during the previous year, and he has already accumulated 96 2/3 innings this season, spread across both Triple-A and MLB.
Since his promotion to the major leagues, Misiorowski has captured attention, achieving 47 strikeouts over 33 1/3 innings with a 2.70 ERA throughout seven starts. His displays garnered rapid notice, leading to his selection as an All-Star alternate despite only initiating five games, which generated discourse among MLB players.
Henderson attained a 1.71 ERA and a 3-0 win-loss record over four starts during his earlier term with Milwaukee this season, including 29 strikeouts over 21 innings. With Triple-A, he secured a 3.59 ERA and a 10-4 win-loss record while maintaining an average of 10.1 strikeouts for every nine innings across 16 game appearances, which included 15 starts.
Injuries are posing growing worries for the Brewers as they are currently positioned two games ahead of the Cubs within the NL Central. Jackson Chourio (right hamstring strain) was placed on the injured reserve on Aug. 1, while Sal Frelick is managing soreness within his left knee.
