At the start of the current year, the leading 20 male and female competitors dispatched a communication to the four Grand Slam events, requesting an augmented portion of the earnings produced by these prestigious competitions.
A declaration, external from the tournament officials stated, “The US Open has consciously and purposefully worked to guarantee percentage escalations in the double digits starting in 2024, affecting all rounds and events for all athletes. Simultaneously, it has substantially raised the percentage of prize funds allocated to players progressing further in the singles brackets.”
The total monetary award available in men’s and women’s doubles at the US Open this year is projected to reach $4.78m (£3.6m), marking a 23% growth compared to 2024.
The tournament announced that “for the first time ever,” the victorious teams in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles will each receive $1m (£749,000) in prize funds per team.
Moreover, the US Open will allocate $5m (£3.7m) to assist players in the main draw with covering expenses like travel, while the prize money designated for the men’s and women’s qualifying rounds will see a 10% increase, reaching $8m (£6m).
The 2025 US Open, hosted at Flushing Meadows, is scheduled to take place from August 24th to September 7th.
