GB Team: Boulter, Kartal, Raducanu for BJK Cup

Anne Keothavong, the skipper of the British team, has announced a formidable squad for the Billie Jean King Cup, featuring Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Emma Raducanu, and Jodie Burrage.

Boulter currently holds the world ranking of 41, followed by Kartal at 45, Raducanu at 46, and Burrage at 116.

In April, Great Britain secured their spot in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, scheduled for Shenzhen, China in September, after victories over Germany and the Netherlands.

Their quarter-final match is set against Japan on Thursday, 18 September, and a victory would lead them to a semi-final clash with the winner of the United States versus Kazakhstan.

The British team has yet to achieve a victory in this women’s team competition, with their last final appearance dating back to 1981, when it was known as the Federation Cup.

Kartal’s recent performance at Wimbledon drew attention, as her advancement to the fourth round surpassed that of any other British female player.

Raducanu made it to the third round before losing to Aryna Sabalenka, the top-ranked player in the world.
