Little League World Series format

Should you require a reminder, the 2025 Little League World Series encompasses a total of 20 teams: 10 originating from the United States and 10 representing international organizations. These teams will engage in a revised double-elimination competition. Gameplay commenced on Wednesday, Aug. 13, with the victorious teams proceeding and securing their spots in the bracket’s winners’ division.

Starting Saturday, Aug. 16, the teams that were defeated in their initial matches will compete to ascertain which teams persist in the event. A team is eliminated following two losses.

That dynamic shifts once the championships get underway. The U.S. championship game and the international championship game are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23, and will each be single-elimination contests. The same conditions apply to the LLWS championship game. Consequently, a team could potentially be eliminated from the event after a single defeat.

Games will be played over six innings. If a game remains tied following six innings, both teams will continue into the seventh inning under standard rules, without any ghost runners on base. If a game continues beyond the seventh inning, each inning will begin with a runner on second base.

How to watch the Little League World Series

The LLWS championship will also be televised on ABC on Sunday. That game’s scheduled start is at 3 p.m. ET.

For fans interested in watching the consolation game on the 24th, it will be available on ESPN2. The game is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. ET.
