Esports platform FACEIT has detailed enhancements planned for ESEA League Season 55, informed by participant opinions obtained via ‘surveys and discussions’.

The season will introduce adjustments to the Counter-Strike 2 competition, such as refined team placements, a broadcasting project, usability improvements, and more.

Changes Coming to ESEA League Season 55

During Season 55, Advanced Champions will be awarded funding to assist with travel to the ESL Pro League Qualifier, known as the DreamHack Knockout event. In addition, the Advanced season’s duration will be reduced, featuring a four-week Regular Season and a two-week Playoffs, to give teams adequate time to arrange visas. It was also noted that teams will participate in three matches each week, with the possibility of ‘flexible rescheduling’.

Modifications will also affect specific divisions during the season. New limitations will be set to ‘stop more skilled players’ from joining forces with teams in lower divisions, implementing a Maximum Elo threshold for Open tiers 1-8, Open 9, and Open 10.

For players at a higher level, a Fast Track Qualifier will be presented this season, providing seasoned teams with a chance to advance to higher divisions more quickly.

FACEIT has also guaranteed the creation of a new intermediate division within South Africa for Season 56, if it can secure 20 registered teams during the current season.

Caster Initiative and Quality of Life Improvements

FACEIT has stated that it will launch a program to discover ‘the next top commentator in Counter-Strike’. Aspiring casters have the option to register and have their streams potentially highlighted across official channels during the season.

The streamers’ content will undergo evaluation by a team of seasoned producers, and the leading applicants will be put up for a community vote. The winner will get a compensated professional opportunity to cover a live game at the ESL Pro League.

The steps for individuals registering for ESEA League Season 55 have also been significantly revised.

The user interface has been enhanced overall, consolidating details on promotion, relegation, and prizes onto the League Standings page for an easier experience. Additionally, the season match schedule will display both maps played and the final scores ‘at a glance’, simplifying scouting for teams preparing to face opponents.

FACEIT also conveyed the introduction of further usability upgrades, making it easier to bring players onto League rosters, and automatically assigning teams to an Open division based on the team’s collective Elo.
