It appears that Lamar Jackson will be absent from Sunday’s game as the Baltimore Ravens face the Houston Texans. A hamstring issue has prevented the quarterback from practicing throughout the week, and he was not present as the team continued preparations for Week 5 on Friday.

Jackson sustained the hamstring injury during Sunday’s defeat to the Chiefs, raising concerns that the two-time NFL MVP might be sidelined for several weeks.
While Jackson hasn’t been officially ruled out for this week’s contest against the Houston Texans, Cooper Rush is prepared to start for the Ravens if Jackson is unable to play.
There’s a notable list of players marked as “Did Not Practice” (DNP) for the Ravens on Friday. Besides Jackson, this includes safety Kyle Hamilton (groin), linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring), cornerback Marlon Humphrey (calf), and fullback Patrick Ricard (calf).
The Ravens are aiming to avoid a 1-4 start for the first time since 2015, a season where they finished 5-11 and missed the playoffs. Following the Texans game, they will host the Los Angeles Rams before entering their bye week.

Additional Week 5 injury highlights:
-
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has received medical clearance to participate this week after sitting out the previous two games due to a sprained left knee. During Daniels’ absence, the Commanders achieved a 1-1 record with Marcus Mariota filling in as quarterback. Daniels will be without two receivers for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, as Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown have been ruled out.
-
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Bucky Irving of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be sidelined for more than just this week because of a foot sprain. Irving has been ruled out after wearing a protective boot all week and relying on crutches around the team’s practice facility. Head coach Todd Bowles mentioned that he wanted to see Irving remove the boot by Friday to consider him for the game against the Seattle Seahawks. There’s reportedly apprehension that Irving will also miss the following week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
-
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers has experienced a decline in his condition this week. Initially listed as limited in Wednesday’s practice, he was subsequently downgraded to non-participant on Thursday and remained sidelined on Friday due to a knee injury that has been affecting him since Week 1. Although the knee hasn’t kept him out of any games this season, it has become a concern now that he is unable to participate in practice.
-
Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard will be absent from their game against the Miami Dolphins because of a calf injury. Hubbard has not been practicing this week, paving the way for Rico Dowdle to take on a more prominent role.
