The Chicago North Siders and Cream City Nine are facing off in their divisional series. The Brew Crew, who were seeded at the top, appeared sharp during Saturday’s opening match. Following a five-day rest, the Cream City Nine achieved six runs in the initial inning, securing an easy victory. The North Siders began strong, gaining a 3-0 advantage early in the second match, but the Brew Crew prevented further scores, clinching three home runs to secure a 7-3 triumph.
The Cream City Nine aim to secure the series victory Wednesday during the third match at the Friendly Confines.
These two division rivals are clashing in the postseason for the initial occasion. The North Siders were victorious in their regular season face-offs, 7-6; however, the Cream City Nine claimed the division title, leading by five games. They achieved the league’s best standing at 97-65. Consequently, the Cream City Nine were granted a bye, allowing nearly a week of rest. The North Siders engaged in a demanding series against the Friars, succeeding 2-1, to progress.
The victor of this competition will face the winner between the Blue Crew and Philly team for the league title. The North Siders last succeeded in 2016, their sole one since ’45. The Cream City Nine haven’t won the league title (although they did win the other league’s title in ’82).

Game 3 storylines
Brewers: The Brew Crew are experiencing their first back-to-back postseason triumphs since ’18, requiring only one more to reach the league championship for the initial occasion since that year. They have demonstrated they can succeed without the home run (nine runs, zero home runs in match one) and with it (all seven runs from home runs in match two). Following a week’s rest ahead of match one, and periods off before and following match two, the bullpen is primed for match three.
Cubs: They are yet to surpass three runs in any postseason match thus far. Despite Seiya Suzuki’s three-run home run in the second match, they had eight subsequent scoreless innings. The bullpen, despite being well-rested, witnessed Daniel Palencia surrender a three-run home run in match two. The North Siders even faced errors from Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson, indicating a need for enhanced performance for a chance to win.
Game 3 prediction
The Brew Crew are outperforming the North Siders, exhibiting better overall performance. The change of venue won’t change the series outcome. The Brew Crew secure the sweep. — Matt Snyder
