Nebraska’s Black Uniforms Top Week 10 College Football Threads

As head coach Matt Rhule’s agreement was prolonged on Thursday, and a highly-rated rival is arriving on Saturday, Week 10 appears to be a great chance for Nebraska to assert themselves.

Fittingly, the Cornhuskers’ outfits for their game against the No. 23-rated USC Trojans are already quite noticeable.

Nebraska will sport black on Saturday night.

Commonly recognized for traditional red-and-white gear, the Cornhuskers will modify their appearance for the Trojans’ trip to Lincoln. The alternate outfits will showcase a uniform aesthetic — black jerseys and pants accompanied by white numerals and designs. The ensemble features an individual helmet that aligns with the motif, showcasing a white exterior, highlighting the school’s renowned “N” emblem and a singular stripe, both in black.

However, Nebraska isn’t the sole institution sporting fashionable gear this week. Below are the best uniforms from the college football scene during Week 10:

Given Boise State’s appearance in Week 5 and Utah’s showing this week, it seems logical to contemplate if hand-painted helmets are becoming a trend in college football uniforms — and we’re definitely in favor of this trend.

Comparable to the Broncos’ headgear, outstanding detailing characterizes the Utes’ hand-painted helmets. The primary color is black, which stands in contrast to a rendition of Utah’s circle and feather emblem, incorporating various shades of red. A nod to “the MUSS” — the Mighty Utah Student Section — is presented on the front of the helmets, above the facemask.

Utah isn’t the only squad opting for memorable helmets this week, as Ole Miss is also showcasing their unique headgear.

The Rebels’ helmets have presented diverse colors over the years, with red, white, and varying shades of blue consistently being the norm. Nonetheless, on Saturday, Ole Miss will utilize a fresh shell shade: grey. The school’s script logo will still be highlighted in red, but will now be set against a patterned, stone grey backdrop.

It’s Halloweekend in Knoxville, and Tennessee is embracing the spooky ambiance by sporting its Dark Mode outfits for an important showdown against Oklahoma.

Very few teams can successfully pull off an all-black alternate look like the Volunteers, who are exchanging the white in their classic orange-and-white hues for a black foundation throughout. Highlighting the alternate gear is a broad orange helmet stripe, along with matching vibrant numerals and accents.

North Carolina is aiming to end a disappointing losing streak, and is seeking help from an unexpected source to generate some positive momentum for its Friday night game against Syracuse: throwback outfits.

Showcasing splashes of black that emphasize the Tar Heels’ signature light blue and white color scheme, the retro gear features a distinctive collar outline and a blocky font style for the numerals.
